Three NH students walking from Mt. Washington to Hampton Beach for mental health awareness
N.H. —
Amid the snowstorm on Thursday, Dec. 17, three New Hampshire students began walking from Mt. Washington to Hampton Beach. Their goal is to raise awareness of the impact the great outdoors has on mental wellness.
The trio is raising funds for the organization National Alliance for Mental Illness, having raised $2,000 already. The organization provides support, education and advocacy to those affected by mental illness and suicide.
College students Garret Roberts, Emmie Daswani and Arian Delli Colli started the initiative called Concept Project to shine a light on social issues.
Through the snow and cold, the three friends will brave more than 100 miles by foot.
"It feels really cool to bring attention to such a crucial issue from where I'm from," said Roberts from Stratham.
"Walk from the highest point to the lowest point, representing the mental health struggles that we all go through on a day-to-day basis," said Delli Colli of Exeter.
The group plans to arrive at Hampton Beach on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at around 3 p.m.
